Should TDS be deducted on single transaction(exceeding 2.5 lakh) only or if there is more than 2.5 lakh transactions in the whole year to be considered? In case of co-operative society. For example - Total purchase is - 1 crore Yearly Two purchase bills are > 2.5 lakh and others are <2.5lakh. So ,TDS will be deducted on 2 bills or on all bills??
Reply—Section 51 of the CGST Act 2017 provides for deduction of tax by the Government Agencies (Deductor) or any other person to be notified in this regard, from the payment made or credited to the supplier (Deductee) of taxable goods or services or both, where the total value of such supply, under a contract, exceeds two lakh and fifty thousand rupees.
Provision of TDS is applicable only where value of supply in single contract exceeds Rs. 2.5 lakhs, not on aggregate value of all supplies.
